Description |
The Boeing B-29 "Bengal Lancer" holds the longest record for combat service. A member of the 468th Bomb Group, 58th Bomb Wing, began service July 1944 and flew an estimated 120,000 miles during 35 bombing missions over enemy territory. The crew, led by Major James Patillo, was later assigned to the 9th Bomb Group on Tinian. |
